Sailing Out of the Harbor - Prints Available

This is a memory from working on the water along the North Shore of Boston. The mornings "on the water" offer a sense of calmness. This painting is about balance and calmness. You have the waves in the foreground balanced with the smoothness of the middle ground. The sky is balances by cool grays and warm yet gentle sunlight. The sailor was in a particular memory of mine. He was moving his boat to be winterized at the end of sailing season in the Fall. I think having the sailor there can be seen as one having control over their own life. They can steer the boat in any direction, while (hopefully as a responsible captain) stays aware of his surroundings and navigation.
